What a perfect month to have a #MentoringMonday on! If you recall, one of our monthly observances is The National Mentoring Month this January. Follow these tips to make the most out of mentorship in general:
- Programs. Does your organization have something beneficial to teach? Do you have programs in place? This is a good time to set them up and get early enrollment started. Note: This is the time of year that high school seniors and juniors end up freaking out about College and University applications. Try to appear genteel and understanding of their pain. That will be sure to ease them into another application process without stressing them out too much.
- Commemorate/Observe/Thank/Praise. It doesn't hurt to spend this month writing cards, letters, speeches, or dedicating events to mentors. Show them that you appreciate their hard work (not just this month, but year-long!) and advice that they disclose.
- Influencers. When we grow out of our Uni mentorships, we hope to cultivate a friendship with those individuals who helped us along the way. These people can eventually become investors, influencers, or brand evangelists for many successful mentees. Talk about these advantageous opportunities to make the idea of investing in long-term business relationships appealing to the youth.
